![]() ABOUT TRIPLE "O" SERVICE click for: www.tripleOservice.com homepage email: fred@tripleOservice.com telephone: 312-280-8820 We offer the finest in service and repair for Italian Marques and now, due to demand, we've expanded to include older British models. We are completely equipped to handle anything from the simplest task to the most thorough overhaul on your prized machine. We service Velocette, Moto Guzzi, Ducati Single or Twin, Laverda, Triumph, Vincent and more obscure makes. They demand a knowledgeable mechanic who will use the resources of modern day technology. That doesn't automatically mean new is better. Often the opposite is true: Some 'new' parts are not made to the original standards held by the OEM, which means the part will need to be 'finished to suit'. The cost has to be weighed against repairing the old part or completely starting from scratch and fixing the original flaws while maintaining an original look or feel. Some examples of the specialties we offer are: Custom control cables (brake, choke, clutch, air, etc.) with nylon-lined housing and black UV proof jacketing, ultra flexible inner cable with new fittings and adjusters throughout. We always make an effort to conform to originality in housing diameter and look. Sometimes a change in routing or exact fittings is a minor concession for longevity and ease of operation. Custom electrical work. Many times the original switchgear or wiring quality was poor (this is not restricted to Italian models) any numbers of reasons explain this: engineering oversights, budget restrictions, changes to export models, etc. The fix is either repair or replace. Sometimes it's just a matter of using a later model part or an overhaul of the electrical system using new wire of correct gauge to handle the proper current. Sometimes a new blade style fuse box or using a relay to remove the offending switch from load (which allows that switch a lifetime of use) will do the trick. Having based my business on keeping that uneasy-truce between Italians and electrons stable, all others seem like easy fixes. The bikes displayed in the gallery really shouldn't be classified against other 'restorations'. Restoration, as viewed from the collector market is, "rebuilt to original specifications". Would you really want a 'brand new' 30-year-old bike complete with all the problems the original had? To name a few: feeble headlights, poor brakes, oil leaks, acid spillage (from cap vented battery), easily faded paint, and crooked decals. (A.M.C.A awards have gone to Indians that leaked the "correct" amount of oil.) The bikes shown are classed almost as custom, which can be called 'restification'. Though they're improved, the bikes have the look of the original. Some features: 12 volt electronics, modern cables, plastic coated stainless braided brake lines, body panels that fit, no oil leaks, better quality paint, and they start easily and run well. Longevity and pleasurable riding are so important, why waste money on yesterday's technology?
